MARKETS: Benchmarks volatile; smallcaps outperform; FMCG stocks in the red

LIVE marketplace update: In the wider markets, the S&P BSE MidCap index slipped 0.6 in keeping with cent while the S&P BSE SmallCap index was down 0.2 in keeping with cent.

Stock marketplace LIVE updates: After a gap-down start, amid a file single-day spike of over 3 lakh Covid-19 cases, benchmark indices grew to become superb in the midday offers on Thursday.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex was quoting at 47,700 levels, up 14 factors or 0.03 in keeping with cent. On the NSE, the Nifty50 was hovering above 14,300 levels.

Wipro, Tata Steel.JSW Steel, Dr Reddys Labs, and SBI Life outperformed the marketplace and received among 2 in keeping with cent and five in keeping with cent at the Nifty. On the downside, Shree Cement, Titan, IndusInd Bank, M&M, and HUL have been main the listing of losers, down as much as 3.6 in keeping with cent.

In the wider markets, the S&P BSE MidCap index was up 0.06 in keeping with cent whilst the S&P BSE SmallCap index received 0.6 in keeping with cent.

Among key sectoral indices at the NSE, the Nifty Metal index was the pinnacle performing index, up 2 in keeping with cent, followed through Nifty Pharma index, up 1 in keeping with cent. The Nifty Bank, Private Bank, and FMCG indices slipped 1 in keeping with cent each.

Cyient, Tata Elxsi and 10 other companies will release their quarterly earnings on April 22.
