Mumbai: The veteran actor Chandrashekhar, better known for offering in films such as Cha Cha Cha, and Surang, and playing the role of Arya Sumant on the popular television, Serial Ramayan, died on Wednesday due to age-related diseases. He was 98.
Chandrashekhar died around 7 am in the residence of him here, the son of him and the producer of him Ashok Shekhar told PTI.
“He failed himself in his dream in the presence of the family … the way he wanted. He did not have health problems, it was only his age, he lived a good life,” Shekhar said. The last rites of the veteran actor will be held at Juhu’s Pawan Hans Crematorium at night, he added.
Born in Hyderabad, Chandrashekhar began as a junior artist in the film industry at the beginning of the 1950s, before embolving his first film on the main role with V Shantaram Surang in 1954. He went to star in the movies, such as Kavi, Mastana , Basant Bahaar, Kaali Topi Laal Rhumaal, and Barsaat Ki Raat.
In 1964, he made the debut in production and directorial with Cha Cha Cha Cha, with the Veteran actor Helen in his first main role of him.
In 1987, Chandrashekhar starred as Arya Sumant, the prime minister of King Dasharatha at DD Mythological Show Ramayan, directed by Ramanand Sagar.
Chandrashekhar, who appeared in more than 250 films Throughout him at the beginning of the 1990s, also briefly attended writer-filmmaker gulum between 1972-1976 in his directories such as Parichay, Koshish, Achanak, Aandhi , Khushboo and Mausam. The veteran actor is survived by three children.
