According to Jon Hurwitz, the show’s showrunner and government producer, Cobra Kai Season 5 has wrapped filming. Cobra Kai’s fifth season comes to a close ahead of season four, which will premiere on Netflix on December 31st, 2021. Season five of Cobra Kai premiered on August 27th, 2021, with Ralpha Macchio thanking fans and announcing that production will begin shortly.
Season five of the show is set to begin production on September 20th, 2021, according to rumors. One of the factory listings stated that production would end on December ninth, but considering that production has already been completed, it appears that either the date was inaccurate or that they overran.
Season 5’s conclusion was announced by Jon Hurwitz (one of the series’ three creators), who was seen on a plane alongside Josh Heald, who both serve as creators and producers on the show.
Many fans were troubled with the message because no official confirmation that filming had begun had yet been received. “Finished taking shots in Atlanta,” Jon Hurwitz explained in a Tweet.
Despite the fact that the drama takes place in Los Angeles, the whole fifth season of Cobra Kai was shot in Atlanta, Georgia.
William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence) just informed Screen Rant (on December 17th) that season five is his personal fave, continuing, “We’re filming the climax of Season 5 right now after 3 months of being within the pits.” I’m so involved in what’s going on right now that I’m forgetting about season 4,” she says.
When will Cobra Kai Season 5 be available on Netflix?
So that brings us to our next question: when will season five of Cobra Kai be available on Netflix?
Unfortunately, it’s too early to tell, and just because production is over doesn’t mean there isn’t more work to be done. Now comes post-production, which is getting the audio, editing, and any VFX artwork in place. After that, the display will begin the localization process, which includes dubbing, subtitles, and preparing promotional items.
Season four was shot far ahead of schedule, but we’re led to believe that season five will premiere in the summer of 2022. In the worst-case scenario, every other December launch may happen.
With season five over, we may begin to wonder if the show will be renewed for a sixth season. While the show appears to have plenty of steam left in it, we’re unlikely to hear about a renewal (or details about the potential spinoffs) until season four.
