US puts 8,500 troops on alert to deploy amid Ukraine tensions

The US military on Monday places around 8,500 alert troops to be prepared to be used to Europe if needed, potentially in a very short time, in the latest efforts to convince allies Jittansy NATO in the face of Russian military buildup near Ukraine.
