Pakistan faced major power disruption on Monday after the national grid suffered a breakdown. And this is kind of not the first time but the second in just a span of three months. According to a report by Reuters,

Power Minister Khurrum Dastagir informed that the disruption was caused by a large voltage surge in the south of the grid. There was also a promise of getting the power back up and running by 10pm.

However, Twitter users are not among those to waste much time and make fun of the situation. “We are trying our utmost to achieve restoration before that,” Dastagir told Reuters. But people concentrated on finding the silver lining of humour in an otherwise dark situation.

From pointing out the necessity of charging mobile phones to being jealous of people with solar panels in their houses, the memes are too good to miss.

Generators are too far from the load centres and transmission lines are too long and insufficient,” an official told Reuters. From Karachi to the capital Islamabad, the eastern city of Lahore and Peshawar in the north,

several regions of the country suffered complete electricity cut. Paired with the raging issue of inflation, the power outage in Pakistan is simply a literal representation of the current situation of the country.
